"I saw a horse and rider galloping at a vertinginous speed along the causeway, through the waves, crashed, now high as the horses's fetlocks. A rider, her black skirt tucked up around her waist so she could ride hard and fast"..

She brings news of more riders coming this way. Word has travelled.

I love the way this figure is a female. In my youth seeing this figure in a pic, or others of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, was enough to terrify me. One of my teachers said I could observe something, over a period of time, and thus become more wise to it, and so I have begun to see what he said was wise.

Oh, Heather, I love it. The cloacked horsewoman and the child. Is he afraid and hiding behind that green scarf or has she seen him and stopped to comfort him? I can read so much into the image.
